Hauoli Makahiki Hou!!

Isn't it neat that we can start all over, be glad for the good things that came our way and learn from the difficult.

The New thing that I will do today is to try and screen shot my New Year's e-mail in to my blog.  I'm crossing my fingers...

Hubby is at the nearby home improvement store, a hurricane is coming, it's name is Lester and we are in preparation mode.  The sky is a pretty shade of blue, birds are singing and the thermometer on my clock says it's 77 degrees at 10 am.

                                     photo taken August 6, 2014

Always wanting to be prepared for the worst and praying for the best, he has devised a system of attaching plywood over the windows with screws not nails. When photo taken, he had wanted to make his storm windows but not enough time then.  So today is the day.

Last night, when we went to the get plywood at Home Depot, my help was needed--not just to keep him company.  Had to help load the sheets on to the cart and then load on to the truck.  As we had started loading, this helper can not move as fast as the boss so it must have appeared that I was...struggling.

Anyway, several young men approached me and said "Aunty, you need help?" me: yeah, thanks ah?
Finished the load and they smiled and I thanked them plenty.  Saw their dad/uncle/grandpa and thanked him as well.  I think he sent them to bless us.

me: what school do you go to?
boy: Anuenue
me: where's that?
boy: Palolo, it's an immersion school.
me: Awright, AHE STREET!
The one kid gave me a hug.

GRATEFUL!  It's good to be old, what's the alternative?

Always wanting to be prepared for the worst and pray for the best, he has devised a system of attaching plywood over the windows--screws not nails.  The last time we did this, was two years ago and he thought of it then but didn't have the time to carry it out.

Last night, when we went to get the plywood (in the dark) at Home Depot, my help was needed.  As we were loading the truck, several young men approached me and said, "Aunty, you need help?"  I said thank you so much and they finished loading.  Saw Dad/uncle/grandpa and thanked him as well.  I think he sent them to bless us.  What a wonderful example of blessing!  I asked them where they went to school and they said Anuenue and I said, where's that?  And they said Palolo.  me:yay Ahe Street!  They gave me hugs and went on their way.

To Be Blessed to Blessed every day, you need a Daily Dose of God's presence and direction.

p.s. I thought this post had disappeared into the Black Hole of Blogs, hence I wrote another one.  Will call the new on #6b as I edit.  Man...

Post #5 I'M GRATEFUL FOR MY MAIL LADY

Was expecting a package delivery on Monday.  It contained patterned paper, a couple stamp sets (reasonably priced) and all on sale.  That's one of my 'things', I don't like to pay full price for too many things and can easily wait for a sale.  I love the post office & their tracking system.  Don't get me started on FedEx or UPS.

When I placed my order on Monday of last week (our 46th anniversary) our gift to me :) for some reason I did not complete it correctly.  I wrote down the total cost plus shipping, waited all day Tuesday for an order confirmation and stuff (I've done this before), nothing.  Checked the online store site and though I remember entering the credit card info, nuthing...?  My order was still there but the total was different=less even.  After calculating, it appeared that something became out of stock in 24 hours.  Placed the order correctly & immediately had my confirmation.  It would be delivered Monday.

On Sunday, attended an afternoon event at church and waited at the light next to the Post Office and saw a large truck parked there and wondered, could my order be there?  My notification had told me that it had arrived in Honolulu that morning.  Sure enough, when I checked my e-mail it had arrived at my post office a half an hour prior.  I shouldn't be so fixated, but I get a kick out of that kind of thing.  The hope and anticipation make me happy.

On Monday, I decided to make fried saimin for hubby's lunch.  It occurred to me that I could make some for my mail lady.  Found my container and made the noodles.  Got a Starbucks bag and had a bottle of water, napkins, chopsticks & a mango ready to go when she came.  Attached a little note saying how she makes my day.  She was grateful and happy that I remembered that her mom likes mangoes.  :)

I Called Myself Scatterbrained...

At our Threads of Hope meeting, I found myself wanting to share so MANY things and my mouth couldn't keep up with my thoughts so apologized and then labeling myself as 'scatterbrained' was what came out of my mouth.

As I think about it, I have SO MANY thoughts floating around in my head, that unless I speak or journal, or put it on a to do list or calendar, or write a blog post, or send an e-mail or text, or make a phone call, or take time to pray for someone or a situation, or speak to someone in person those thoughts will continue to expand and multiply until I seek out my tablet to play my Candy Crush Soda.  I admit that playing a game on the computer is a only a temporary fix.

I've been known to be a notorious and long time procrastinator :( and wore that label with shame.  Gratefully, I am learning how to prioritize, eliminate the unnecessary and get things done.

I realize that the formulation of my thoughts into a cohesive, makes-sense-to-me paragraph or phrase is necessary for my mental/emotional/spiritual self and provides a landing/resting/safe place for these thoughts.  Seeing blogging as journaling, documenting on the web:releasing and sharing these thoughts in the event that others might identify with themselves.  Love the concept of brain dumping with regard to journaling--getting it all out there, not worrying about how it looks or if someone will read it--it's for me!

Documenting my Journey with God is now my priority and no longer a separate part of everything that I am and do.  God is my Creator, my Heavenly Father, my Maestro, my Comforter, my Maker, my Coach, my Boss, my Choreographer, my Mentor, my Teacher, the Author and Essense of my life.

This is one of the first photos I have put scripture to.  It was taken in Hilo after a long time friend's funeral.  Had my Canon Rebel and walked around the yard and took pictures of flowers in their yard.  This was one of his favorite scriptures and made cards for his wife.

His Word made real.

Aloha
